Photographing Birds

Living in SW Florida there are many species of beautiful shore birds to photograph.

Photographing birds in flight can be a challenge in capturing crisp images.  It is best to shoot in manual mode with a fast shutter speed to “freeze” the bird’s wings in your photo.   Aperture should be set around f/7.1 or f/8.  And last you want to have as low of ISO as the light will allow to avoid digital noise.

I also love to photograph static portrait shots of birds and find them just as pleasing.

Burrowing Owls can be found in Cape Coral, Florida. They are found in roped-off areas around the city. I am lucky that a friend of mine has a burrow right down the street from her.   Most roped-off areas have a white T-shaped perch for the owls.
